Helping Kids
Each member of the South Pole for Kids Expedition is dedicated to improving the lives of children in our local communities. Why? The answer is simple - there are kids in our area that go to school hungry, they may not have warm clothing, and many of our area schools are under-funded and over-crowded, meaning that they don’t have resources to provide music and after-school programs that are so important to a child’s development. We believe our Expeditions do make a difference for kids.
When we went to the North Pole as the Top of The World Expedition in 2006, we managed to raise over $500,000 to support this effort. That money went directly to several charities in our area. In 2008 the South Pole for Kids expedition was able to top that record, raising over $525,000 for local kids charities.
With these generous donations, funding has been distributed to the organizations listed below who were selected by our fundraising committee based on specific proposals submitted for sponsorship in nutrition, music and life skill programs. We have put every effort into ensuring that funding has been directed within these areas of need for the children in our communities.
